Exploring Tigersnake and Penrose Gully canyons with Wollemi Wanderers was a very interesting experience for me. We started the day as early as possible but still had to waited for quite a time for most of our abseils because there were two big groups before us! Tigersnake canyons was magnificent, especially because Phil - our trip leader, found a special secret spot for our last abseil a down another section of the canyon. The Rock formations in the canyons were incredible - there was even a natural arch inside the canyon! I climbed up a bit with Phil to spot a sky hole, a nice place for a picture. We finished Tigersnake and had lunch behind a pagoda before dumping our bags and abseil down Penrose Gully canyons. The canyon were tiny, there were parts we had to squeezed our selves between the canyons while abseiling down! Compare to Tigersnake canyons which has 4 abseils, Penrose Gully was a shorter trip with only 3 short abseils. However, it wasn't less amazing. By the time we got back up, the sun was climbing down the mountains, giving a spectacular sunset view.
